On rare occasions, an otherwise perfect lifestyle image slated for use on West Marine's social media channels needs some tweaking. This usually involves basic color correction, cropping, or removing unnecessary but distracting elements of the picture. On rare occasions, it can involve updating product packaging or adjusting focal elements for better presentation.
Before: The boat soap shown here has an outdated label that doesn't reflect the current appearance of the product on the shelf. Given that the boat soap is the featured product, the label needs to be updated.
After: Rather than go through the time and expense of scheduling another photoshoot with updated product, I simply replaced the outdated label with the new one, sized and subtly skewed to match perspective lines.
Before: The repairman has a boatyard logo on his shirt, and the wet towel on his head has been described as odd-looking by the marketing team.
After: The towel has been filled in to better resemble an actual hat, and the logo has been removed.
